The Brain Dance

 

Participants will learn the scientific theory and rationale of the Brain Dance as well as parts of the brain and brain development theory. They will have the opportunity to practice leading the Brain Dance so they feel comfortable with it. The Brain Dance can be used for neurological re-patterning, body connectivity and alignment as well as broad assessment.

Brain Gym®

 

This two day course will introduce participants to the Brain Gym program. It will be experiential in nature and explain the educational theory and physiology behind the Brain Gym movements and the educational kinesiology program developed by Dr. Paul Dennison. Building a Bridge Between Academics and Play

CNY Reads: The Kite Runner

 

Become part of the CNY Reads program and promote literacy as members of our community read the same book. Preview this year's book, The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, a novel about two boys growing up in Afghanistan. Themes dealing with coming of age, jealousy, guilt, immigration, and other cultures are excellent teaching tools for both English and social studies. Is It Just the Blues? Adolescent Depression and Suicide Prevention

This workshop will provide activities and ideas that will appeal to spatial, kinesthetic and visual learners. Explore a diverse set of resources and examine, critique, and develop lessons that use the SmartBoard to enhance student learning and increase critical thinking skills. Design lessons using the SmartBoard during these sessions.

Speedstacking Your Way to School Success!

 

Speedstacking is a newly developed sport of stacking cups in rhythmic patterns. Stacking trains the right side of the brain for improved use of two hands, focus, and rhythm. Because of its emphasis on sequencing and patterning, it positively impacts reading and math proficiency. Who would have guessed something so much fun could be so effective?
