LOTE Professional Study Group
Join the newly created CNY LOTE professional study group and meet with fellow educators in central New York. Learn strategies and techniques to improve your teaching and student learning. The first session will feature how to create a LOTE department prop collection and discuss the use of props across the LOTE curriculum. The next session will demonstrate ways to utilize music and technology in the LOTE classroom. |

Sign Language I
Sign Language I will feature finger spelling, numbers, and over 250 everyday signs including people and relationships, adjectives, words of emotion, and verbs. Signs are taught in a fun, engaging environment with plenty of interaction and repetition to reinforce what has been taught.

Sign Language II
Sign Language II will build on the what was learned in Sign Language I with many new verbs, prepositions, and common nouns including places, objects, days of week, months, and time words. Participants will actively participate to increase fluency and retention of cumulative signs. |

Sign Language III
Sign Language III will feature over 250 new vocabulary words that will enable participants to be nearly fluent in sign language. The class is taught in a fun, engaging environment that promotes retention of cumulative signs. Anecdotes, storytelling, riddles, recipes, and more will be shared in sign language to create a highly interactive signing atmosphere. |

What’s Different About Teaching Reading to Students Learning English?

Your Voice: Can’t Teach Without It!
This workshop is designed specifically for teachers who must use their voice to teach students daily. It will focus on educating teachers about their speaking voice: how to use it, how to prevent voice problems, proper vocal technique, occupational risks/hazards, signs of a voice problem, how and where to get help, and what you can do to improve your voice. |
