Cost Analysis for Admiral 6EI, 6EIN

This set its from 1946.

Admiral 6EI, 6EIN
The Admiral 6EI, 6EIN
Luggage type Portable Radio

Below are two pictures of the chassis.  Parts are identified by a number.

Top View of Chassis

Part number 7 (7 in a circle, lower right) is the filter capacitor can. There are 3 filter capacitors inside that need replacing.

Bottom view of chassis

This is the bottom view of the chassis.  Capacitors numbered 8 through 17 are the paper capacitors to be replaced.  That is a total of 10 paper capacitors.

Since there are 13 capacitors to replace for this restoration, this makes the labor on this set:
10 * 13 = $130.00

Here is a list of the capacitors and their corresponding prices:

Part Number                                             Description
7a 33µf@160 Volts
7b 47µf@160Volts
7c 100µf@160Volts
8 .047µf@400Volts
9 .22µf@400Volts
10 .0022µf@630Volts
11 .01µf@400Volts
12 .01µf@400Volts
13 .01µf@400Volts
14 .01µf@400Volts
15 .01µf@400Volts
16 .22µf@400Volts
17 .047µ@400Volts

13 paper and filter capacitors

So for this set the restoration would cost $130.00 + (Tax if you live in NY State) + Shipping.

This is the price for the flate rate radio restoration. It covers more than the paper and filter capacitors. For this radio I will include, line cord, dial lamp and up tp 5 small resistors, if necessary if they are in need of replacement as a part of the restoration. Tubes cost and other parts are extra, if they're necessary. If your radio needs dial cord re-stringing, that is included in the flat-rate restoration as well if it's a simple dial cord arrangement.

My regular prices are Labor + Parts. In this case the labor alone for 160 volt radios is 13 x $8.45 = $109.85. The capacitors cost $22.00. So $109.85 + $22.00 = $131.85. No, the flat rate is a better price for this restoration. My regular prices were more difficult to calculate. That's why I delevoped a flat-rate price.

This Portable Battery Radio does not qualify for the 6 tube radio restoration special.
