Women in Literacy/USA Anab Miu Valerie Darlene & Maria Carol Kathryn Women in Literacy/USA is the U.S. component of the global campaign. WIL/USA began in 1994 and hopes to reach 100,000 women by the year 2000. It awards direct grants annually to grassroots organizations that combine a focus on women and community action with literacy or English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction.
