Charon (Greek): Son of Nyx and Erebus. Employed as a ferryman to conduct the dead across the River Acheron, one of the messiest of the five rivers of Hades. Charon's fee is a coin that has been placed under the tongue of the deceased. Living persons who want to go to Hades need a golden bough obtained from the Cumaean Sibyl. (Moon of Pluto.)
