Hidden/Underreported History
I hated history classes as a child. We were expected to memorize dates and to regurgitate what I now consider to have been trivial information or nationalistic propaganda.
It wasn't until I was in college that a history professor breathed life into ancient history for me. Her lectures painted vivid pictures of what life might have been like during the time of Alexander the Great -- for his people and his enemies alike.
Since then, I've studied history from as many perspectives as possible -- usually in clumps, devouring whatever resources I could find. Everything written as history is biased, and what I plan to offer here is no exception. I have my own biases. We all need to read as many reports as possible and to draw our own conclusions -- and to be open to the possibility that, given new information, our conclusions might change.
I hope that the following sections enlighten, enrage, sadden, or delight you. Suggestions are welcome through e-mail. The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.
