Jones Hired as Women's Ice Hockey Assistant Coach

Colgate University has announced the hiring of Stephanie Jones as a women’s ice hockey assistant coach.

A 2005 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Jones was named the Hockey East co-Player of the Year and was also named to the New England Hockey Writers Women’s Division I All-Star team this past year. She earned the team’s MVP award, the Karyn Bye Award, and was also the recipient of the Fan Favorite Award during her senior year.

The Kimberely, B.C. native captained the women’s ice hockey squad her senior year and led UNH in goals (23) and was 18th in the nation in goals per game (0.68). She also led the team in game-winning goals (5) and power-play goals (7).

The two-time Hockey East First Team all-star is also a member of the UNH Century Club with 142 career points. Playing in 142 games, Jones netted 78 goals and 64 assists, averaging one point in every game played in four years.

Entering her first year in the collegiate coaching ranks, she will join assistant coaches Josh Liegl and Bill Dowsland behind the bench.

The Colgate women’s ice hockey team opens its season with an exhibition contest against the North York Aeros on Sunday, October 9th.
