New York artists on exhibit at Music Mix in Hamilton
The Hamilton Music Mix, a free all day festival on Saturday, July 30, will be filled with art and music! Central New York Artists will exhibit and sell their finely crafted art.
New this year, an Artists’ Village Committee juried the art submitted by artists and selected Emily Golden, Doug and Mickey Jones, Duane Martinez, Noreen Mooney, Kristen and Carolyn Neidlinger, David Chlad, Lisa Oristian, and Deb Whitman. Duane Martinez won the Best of Show with his use of metal, wood and glass to create unique art.
Samples of the artists’ work will be on display at Evergreen Gallery in Hamilton and Main Street Collectibles in Earlville the week of July 25.
This event sponsored by the Partnership for Community Development is also filled with live music, children’s activities at the Kids’ Space Tent, talented young musicians performing in the Young Musicians’ Showcase, car cruise-in, and delicious food.
The Taste of Hamilton features local restaurants preparing their specialties: the Colgate Inn, Seven Oaks Clubhouse, Parkside Deli and Catering, Maxwell’s Chocolates and Ice Cream, and the Hamilton Lion’s Club.
The Car Cruise-In, organized by Wayne’s Market, is your opportunity to meet and enjoy other car enthusiasts as well as spectators while sharing stories and reminiscing about the cars on display. If you wish to show off your car contact Wayne Foster at Wayne’s Market, Hamilton, 315-824-9806.
You are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the grass at the Village Green in historic downtown Hamilton. Festivities begin at 9 AM with the Lake Moraine 5 Mile and Fun Run. Live music starts at noon with Sviraj, a quartet playing ethnic Balkan gypsy music; Richard Ray Farrell, playing blues that soothes the soul at 1:30 PM; Red Molly, a female trio singing sweet harmony and a little bit of country at 3:30 PM, and The Critics, a local 8-piece, brass Syracuse group keep the party going at 5:30 PM! Mix in John Porcino, noted storyteller and Doug Rougeux, Bubbleman, at the Kids’ Space Tent, along with a Kolo Dance workshop presented by Sviraj, tambourine making, family music-making workshop, square painting, and more! An American Sign Language Interpreter will be at the Kids’ Space Tent between 1-4 PM for the storyteller, Bubbleman, and dance workshop. Dress up like a musician and have your photo taken for only $5. Various clothing and props will be provided at the “Be A Star” photo tent.
