Donations for Paper Hearts help local girl

The family of Brooke Terrier would like to thank all who donated to her cause, by purchasing paper cut-out hearts. Brooke has undergone two operations in Upstate University Hospital, in order to repair a congenital heart condition.

Brookfield Central School’s 2nd Grade teacher, Sabrina Denton decided to help Brooke and her family out with medical expenses by selling the hearts for $1 each. Brooke’s sister, Kristie Dutcher, along with her classmates of the graduating senior class, cut out over 600 paper hearts. The school also participated by making an album of the hearts sold, which totaled to $1,000 toward Brooke’s medical expenses.

The hearts were sold at the Hubbardsville Mall, A-n-W E-Z Mart in Madison, Mobile Express Mart in Hamilton, Nice ‘n’ Easy in Sangerfield, and Frank’s Pizzeria in Waterville.

Brooke is home now, recovering from her 2nd surgery and is very grateful for all of the support.
