Did you see the First Set of Pictures?
This is the picture that many of you see if you came into St. Martin on a cruise ship which is right off the docks and comes into the center of town as is seen by the Court House in the center of the picture. Notice the sign off to the left -Welcome to St. Martin the Friendly Island - it sure is!
This is again one of our favorite little islands, Sandy Island off of Anguilla. It was hit hard by the last major hurricane and we are told that all the palm trees were underwater, however, it is back in business now. Great snorkeling along the reef.
This is Green Key off of Orient Beach, which of course is the only designated nude beach in St. Martin. It is a great area for wind surfing and snorkeling, very private and secluded. Many people take daily trips over to this or many of the other close islands to St. Martin.
The beach At Mullet Bay provides a great vast area of white sand beach with slow rolling curls of waves. The many shaded areas provide cover and privacy for a full day on the beach. This picture shows the full coast line of the Mullet Bay beach while taken from two different angles; I'm sure you can see in the back how the beach fully wraps around to form a nice moon shaped bay.
This is a fine example of the cliffs on St. Martin taken during sunset. There is a cave at the base of the cliff. Artifacts from the Arawak Indians have been found in some of the caves, we have also seen some caves that have beach chairs and sand in them - you can relax during the heat of the day.
Here is another beach showing the blue clear water and nice sandy beaches in St. Martin. Anyone for a dip?
This is a shot taken from one of the mountain tops inland from Phillipsburg. Phillipsburg is the narrow strip of land going off the right of the picture, in the foreground is the salt ponds and of course the Caribbean in the background. Looks like a cruise ship was in that day as they anchor here in Great Bay.
This is the island of Anguilla near Crocus Bay. We stopped here for a swim after a day trip snorkeling. We all got to jump off the large rock you see people climbing up in the right of the picture - after a full day of rum punch and sun, we were ready.
Again, Near Crocus Bay in Anguilla. This water is a protected National wildlife Refuge which provides for great snorkeling. This picture shows some of the blue water that is down in the Caribbean along with some of the more beautiful and secluded beaches. If you want you can always find your own 'private' beach.
This is just one of many underwater pictures I have taken in the Caribbean. This one is from the waters off of St. Martin. Notice the giant brain coral in the foreground. I've seen many fabulous sights in these waters. I NEVER remove anything from the water - save these sights for others to enjoy!
This is the Baie de Marigot with the fort up the hill directly behind me. Many of the small ships come in on Market Day, it is always a bustle of activity. Cruise ships are starting to come into Marigot Harbor and dock.
Baie rouge on the French side of St. Martin. A nice beach, the waves are rough and there are a lot of rocks but a very beautiful beach. Every kind of beach is available on St. Martin - what's your choice?
The Caribbean meets the Atlantic off the beautiful island of St. Barts. The water and scenery on St. Barts are absolutely gorgeous. A day trip to St. Barts from St. Martin is a great day excursion trip.
Looking down at the end of Gustavia Harbor in St. Barts. This is the bustling harbor where all the boats come in. It is a picturesque sleepy little town with the ambiance of French culture ever present.
Pinel island off of the French Cul de Sac area of St. Martin. A wonderful short five minute boat trip for a relaxing day of snorkeling or exploring this small uninhabited island. Vendors are waiting at the bay area of French cul de sac to run you over to the island for a minimal cost of three to five dollars.
A view of Philisburg and the tip of Little Bay from the air. Note the mountainous terrain of the island. Phillipsburg is the capital of the Dutch side of the island and is a bustling place with many shops to purchase any duty free item.
A few pictures of Saba which again is a fun day trip from St. Martin. This is probably on of the most mountainous islands in the Caribbean and really has no beach, it is just one big mountain. You can see the clouds on the top of the mountain which has a rain forest since it is covered in clouds most of the time. See the road down in the bottom center of the picture - there are not many.
This is the Bottom which is actually at the top and is one of the two larger communities on Saba. Saba has a great liquor which they make from 151 rum called Saba Spice, which by the way was our inspiration for naming our dalmation - Clark's Saba Spice.
Saba has the smallest runway of any island. You can see how the take off is short and right out into the ocean, not a lot of room for landing either. The little white building next to the runway is actually just a little shed.
Again one of the fine beaches in St. Martin. Notice the cumulus clouds in the background. You can also see the terrain of the island.
This is Simpson Bay Lagoon on a sunset cruise. One of the nice little beaches with the palm trees in front. Simpson Bay is a great harbor for docking boats of all sizes and provides one of the best protective harbors in this part of the Caribbean.
