The new tv rating system, intended to help parents regulate programming for their household, went into effect at the beginning of the month. The six codes of this system (TV-Y, TV-Y7, TV-G, TV-PG, TV-14 and TV-M) will also integrate with the proposed "V-chip" due out sometime in 1998. Opponents of the new plan say the current ratings do not give parents enough information about the content of each program. Advocates feel that the system does work and while it may not be perfect, it's still a step in t he right direction. What do you think about the new tv ratings? Do you feel the current system is effective?
| The new ratings are good enough | 185 votes | 60% |
| The new ratings are not effective | 124 votes | 40% |
